Yes, they are available from independent vendors on the Atlantis beach. Be sure to negotiate not only the price, but the amount of time. Most prices (around $60 are for 1/2 hour, but you'll find that they are trying to call you back in within 20 minutes or so.
So syncronize your watches, and agree on a time. Also, be very careful. This area is crowded with jetskis, banana ride and even swimmer. Accidents happen on a regular basis. You should be 18 to drive - some vendors will not abide by the rules. Jetski's can be fun, but are not toys.
This is the official 'checklist' from the bahamas gov't website. This is supposed to be given to all users. (regulation 5) FIRST SCHEDULE Orientation check list for “jet ski” renters 1. I have been shown the operation of all gears of the equipment 2.
I have been advised of the area of operation and the restricted area and shown the Hard Card of those areas. I have been advised of the law against the reckless operation of the equipment 4. I confirm that I am not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. I confirm that the identification (ID) indicating that I am 18 years old is correct. I have been supplied with a Life jacket and advised to wear it at all times while I am operating the equipment. I acknowledge that a maximum of two (2) persons shall ride the equipment. I confirm that I have been advised about the maximum speed allowed during departure from and arrival at the beach.
Didn't say they wouldn't let them ride. If you've got the $$$ and the port authority 'spies' aren't watching. They'll let a 12 year old drive one. But the rules are 18 and over. They are also supposed to be licensed and insured. That's a laugh too.
Those who asked the question. Wanted to know what was legal. This is the reason we have kids running each other over and splitting their heads open every season. Make sure you carry your own insurance, cause Bahamian insurance is worthless and Atlantis will have nothing to do with this mess.
